pmo carb hanging idle 3.6
Hey all, Just picked up a 75 with a 3.6 that has PMO carbs on it. First start off the truck and the idle seems to hang after I let off the throttle (both cold and after warmed up) and it seems a bit slow or unresponsive on the up too....
Any thoughts on where I should start? Thanks! |

Idle
I would start by confirming if the throttles are fully returning to idle positions when you let off the gas.
You should be able to do this from the engine bay - rev the engine a bit from the pedal, and check to see if the idle stops fully return against the idle set screws. If not - then your linkages is probably binding somewhere between your pedal and the carbs. Throttle linkage has probably 6-8 plastic bushings going from pedal, through the tunnel, on lever arms up to the carbs. Confirm they are in working condition (tunnel bushings tend to wear out / be forgotten) and lubed. Assume that the engine ran well and the carbs were properly configured as a starting point - don't get immediately sidetracked into replacing jets etc. Another easy one is cleaning your idle jets - do it just to confirm Gordo
