While I don't recall the part #, I had one in my 2.7L and loved it.

I don't remember which one I have in my 73"S", but I had 3 DOA's from them and had almost thrown in the towel. You should do a search on this board for comments about Pertronix... you will be surprised at what you hear... lot's of DOA's and their tech support stinks. Once, however, it's working... it works forever.

Use something else...they suck. When they work, they are fine, but they fail and strand you....keep a set of points handy if you travel. The warranty is also substandard.
I like the Carne/Allison optical ignitions and the MSD's..... |
I'd like to go the Alison/MSD route.
As I understand it, I need to replace the points with the Alison optical system, and then the trigger output goes to an MSD 6AL. Then to the coil, and then to the dizzy, then the plugs. Is that right? I have the MSD and the coil, but I'm confused as to exactly what I need from Crane. Can anyone help with parts numbers or descriptions? I have an old case that has a '69 (I think) T and/or L Bosch dizzy. Thanks! (I looked at changing to the Electromotive/Clewitt Engineering set up, and it looks really good, but economically it's a bunch more ($!000,) and considering that I already have the MSD and coil, it just doesn't make sense.) |
no problem with the pertronix...worked great from the start!
