CIS Air Flow Sensor position
The AFS plate has a specific position it needs to be in at the bottom of the cone.
The old 911 with CIS had a spring/clip you needed to bend but the newer ones had a screw to set the stop height. Does anyone know how many threads out the screw needs to be, to be in the ball park. I am thinking 5 or 6 but am not sure and quite frankly removing the airboot with an engine in place is hard on my delicate hands. Also is there a symptom you can spot if the plate is too high or too low in the cone? I have a CIS book and that only says that if the AFS plate is too high at rest hard starting will result, but I do not really see how that can contribute to a hard start. I have always wondered if they wanted to say too low and mixed up downdraft with updraft sensors.... Surely once started a too low or too high at rest position can have no adverse effect as the height is controlled by air bypass and control pressure correct? Michel |
Top of the plate to very bottom of the cone edge, with fuel pressure. Screw position doesn't relate, you have to pop the boot and see.
