Hi, I have a 3.0 too. Had my muffler shop make caps for the lower holes. After tuning the car and driving it for awhile I purchased some motorcycle baffles and inserted them through the previously capped lower holes. Created a little back pressure, lowered the decibels and a created a really great sound!
Overall very glad I went this route.
In the future I might install electric cutoff valves and have them actuate through the ECU.

...I'll give it a shot. Only downside is that I'll have to sacrifice a set of SSIs in the process.

I have one of the 64-73 dual out "rs" mufflers. Mine has a third outlet a'la the rally mufflers but this one is welded shut. I picked it up second hand with a few other parts I purchased. I'm underwhelmed by it. It's not necessarily a bad muffler just not super awesome or anything. ...good deep rumble but doesn't really have that 911 flat six shrill. I think it might be a good option for a 914/6 with a wevo 915 trans as it looks like it might clear the tail shift. I'll probably try it on mine if I need it to be quieter than running the megaphones.

Can you please also detail the method you used to mount to the factory engine carrier/muffler bracket? What straps or if anything else was needed?

Awesome! I assume that's on the loud set of pipes on the muffler?

How did you mount to the engine carrier/muffler bracket?

Ryan, we have a very similar setup with exception of header and ITB brands. Enjoying the performance! Perfect for the back roads around here.

Finished installing your sway bars along with a set of KW v3s.

You could use the other stainless steel SSI type heat exchangers. I'm forgetting the name right now, but there's a thread on them. They have a section for straight pipe or cats. So, you wouldn't have to modify them.

Also interested in this info. Mounting my GT3 muffler up to my 3.6 swap soon.

Ryan H- where are those muffler tips from? I am looking for a cheap alternative. Have you had any issues with heat melting your bumper?

Thanks

They are titanium and custom made. Not a cheap alternative.

No issues with heat and the bumper.

my gt3 muffler is on a 3.6..
however here is how I made both options work on my sc. there is an electric cutout switch in my interior to switch back and forth. very happy with the loud vs quiet option.
I also had to take a few inches off the tips to have them sit flush(ish) with the bumper.
cheers
