Need to paint my Fuchs
 

Ok, my wheels are getting a bit faded and need repainting. The stock color is all black and I'm wondering 2 things: 1) should I just keep them all black (easy), 2) what paint should I use to paint. I've seen some pretty cool looking wheels using the body color+black. Could one of you paint shop pro guys show me a sample of what they'd look like if they are all white and white+black? Thanks!

Matt, the paint is made by Wurths. Pelican probably handles it. The "satin" finish is the one that looks most stock. There is a better mousetrap, though:

For your white Targa I'll say I think the black balances "the look" the best.

When I painted mine (from polished) getting some black in there to help balance things was needed. I'm still not sure it was enough.

Yeah, the Wurth's paint is called "Matte Black", I believe. This stuff works great, is durable and matches the factory finish pretty well. Some of that thin, flexible 3M masking tape from a auto paint and body supply place works great around the wheels at the black/anodized interface.

As for color, the white looks pretty cool. I painted some Cookie Cutters orange once (they were track wheels) to match my car. Looked great!

There are actually several different Wurth's from which to choose, depending upon the level of shine you're after. I spoke to the guys at carcareonline about this - they recommended the Wurth's Matt Black Lacquer - said it was (a) what the wheels had on them from the factory and (b) the lacquer would hold up better to the heat than the Satin (which is an enamel). They also said that you should wax the wheels once painted to both protect and give them an added shine.

the matt black is not flat, but has a rich color to it. I'd suggest picking up a can of both and experimenting (on something other than your Fuchs) to see which color suits you best.

I repainted the wheels on my 88 sort of a silver/platinum color. I never liked the black centers and I have gotten several positive comments but it's not really for the concourse crowd.
Hey, it's your car and many colors were offered from Porsche other than black from the factory.

I've always been a fan of the polished paddles and black background.

I'd sure like to see what they'd look like white before I make a decision...hint hint hint at the PaintShop Pro guys ;)

Before I bought my black Carrera I was specifically looking for a white coupe planning to paint the wheels white. There is a white coupe I see every once in a while with the white painted rims and it looks flat out spectacular. Black won me over though.
