Colgan engine bay protector - mystery tabs

I feel like I’m asking for directions for a comb on this one, but any guesses on what these two tabs are for? They stick up about two inches. They’re pretty stiff and seem to be magnetic. Am I supposed to stick a parts tray to them? Do I bend them into hook shapes to hold against the sheet metal better?

Now that they are bent, just leave them that way for future uses.
