Flag mirror wires tool help

My zeal to remove things for painting is ebbing. The wires in the mirror connector are persnickety.

Does this tool look about right? Sure is tight and nothing out yet.
Suggestions?

Humm seems perhaps there are different methods depending on year!

Well, taking the plate off helped. I could see the back side of the wires.
From there the twist of sharp needle nose to unlock the pins does the trick.
The tool I show in first post does not cut it on a ‘78. Doh!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1551131030.jpg

I used that tool for my 1988 flag mirror removal.

This one worked perfectly for the flag mirrors on my 1990 C2

Yes well I should have read the information posted here more carefully. The removal method on an ‘80 SC was needle nose from the rear, twist to unlock and pull. I’m now confident I can remove my mirror for painting as I managed to remove a pin with needle-nose-twist technique.

Next challenge will be door window glass which I’ve never done.
