How to remove brake/seat belt warning light?

I've got the clock out and the wires disconnected so I can reach it from behind. I feel tabs on either side but squeezing them doesn't seem to help. I've also got the face/lense off and I see tabs there as well but I'd rather not pry them if it's not going to help, 30 year old plastic and all.

Note to anyone trying to reach it from below, not possible. Removing the radio only exposes a metal barrier.

try putting wire harness back on and grab the wire bunch and give it a push as you squeeze the tabs. give it a little wiggle back and forth. mine popped right out doing this.

Now I'm confused. Is it the tabs in the back or the tabs in the front that hold it in the dash?

It's the tabs in the housing but to access them, I found it easier by removing the red lens.

I believe the bulbs are manufactured into the base unit - not a plug-in, but may be replaceable by soldering?

Hmmm..my seat belt warning light was out, so I ordered the replacement bulb for this unit from our host- then found this thread ... do these bulbs in fact need to be soldered in? or are they replaceable? The bulbs sure look "plug and play". Anybody know for sure?

Thanks-

The bulbs are soldered onto the circuit board, at least on an 88.
I broke one trying to remove and replace with LED 74's.
I will have to remove per this thread and solder new lights in.
