Battery problem on my Carrera S

The battery on my 2005 went dead. Attempted to charge it without removing but wouldn't charge in the circuit. Removed it and now appears to be charging. Is it possible that this battery (Optima) will not charge in the circuit?

I've had situations where the drain/load from a circuit would confuse a smart charger into disqualifying the battery and refusing to charge it. If a drain/load caused your battery to discharge, could be also causing the charger to refuse to charge. Worth tracking down the root cause of your drain situation.
