G50 Heater control cable cover
I'm looking for some help.
I am in the process of doing various jobs on my 1988 3.2 Carrera Coupe. One of these is replacing the heater control valves with new stainless steel replacements. Now, it's never the things that you expect to cause problems that do. The 3 mounting nuts on each valve came undone without a hitch - but the heater control cable cover seems to have rusted itself firm to the guide tube of the heater control valve. The cable itself seems in great condition but I need to separate its cover from the valve. I am in the process of ordering new control cable covers. I've tried basting with Kroil and various applications of force but separation of the two remains a dream. Any thought/tips from the wise? I need to partially drop the engine at the gearbox end for some other jobs so am thinking that maybe the connection of the heater control cable cover at the body might be easier to separate (?). ![]()

Resorted to cutting the cable covers off with my Dremel, though had hoped to avoid buying new ones.
