cat removal technique

Those that have removed an old catalyst and found the nut impossible to turn, what was your solution. I am going to break
out the blue flame, but didn't know if there was any downside to this besides possible fire hazard. Also are three differant gaskest required on an 87 3.2 to reinstall a "test pipe". I am only testing
the differance in performance and will reinstall the cat (thats my federal disclaimer). I have a new bypass pipe and O2 sensor
that i will put on.

Thank Keith

Alot of people have had luck with spray lubricants let sit overnight blah, blah. I tried it but had no luck on my 83SC. I called a local held shop and drove the car to them, ten minutes and 20.00 dollars later the old cat has off. There is no problem burning the old nuts off.
Save your knuckles for a smarter fight.;)

Thanks for the post, thats what I had in mind but was going to do it at our Porsche shack since the engine is already out of the car.

This is for our local PCA president that is in recovery from instestinal cancer and has had most of his bowels removed.

SEE Fred at our PCA webb page and send him an email.also
take a look at our club workshop.

Red hot nuts with oxy-acetylene. That's the easiest way IMHO.

Torch it!
I actually had to get in there with an air hammer after I torched the nuts off, that thing was really on there.
good luck.
