Wevo 915 Classic shifter

Hi

My Mechanic installed my wevo 915 classic a few days ago, I have a few questions from those who installed these before.

1. I Do hear the reverse lockout pin click when you engage 5th gear ?
2. it harder to get into 4th gear from 3rd
4. easer to go reverse when looking for 4th

I have the stomski gear lever linkage instslled as well

How can I fix this

I agree that you may need to adjust the shift coupler which is located in the tunnel behind the front seats and in front of the rear seats. You should be able to fix any shifting issues.

Regarding the clicking of the reverse lockout, mine does that too so I hope that’s normal, haha.

Ok, will play around with the coupler.

Are there any adjustments to increase the throw a bit, especially on getting a full lock on 4th gear ?

Would the increased throw be associated with the coupler ?

Would the increased throw be associated with the coupler - no. It's a coupler, not a lever. But it's a great product.

Sounds like the for aft adjustment is good..
The only adjustment that you need to make is left or right at the coupler..just alittle goes a long ways.

The wevo shifter actually reduces the throw of each shift..thats the point of the product..

If you're not getting far enough in to 4th gear, you may need to adjust the coupler such that the shift rod is shorter.

I found my wevo a bit fussy to get working just right. Took a bit of driving around with wrenches and trying small adjustments to dial it in just so.

I had mine for about 4 years and in that time never was able to get it right. Very disappointed..

I replaced the wevo with a jwest unit and couldn't be happier with my decision.

I'm also running a Rennshift (JWEST) shifter. I haven't had any experience with the Wevo, so can't say how they compare, but I am quite happy with the Rennshift. Here is a link to the Rennshift website for your reference. I'm running the factory shift boot on mine so it looks essentially stock aside from the shift knob.

I haven't seen if the OP said if he also has the WEVO Performance Coupler or not, but that is essential.

I've had the WEVO classic shifter and Performance Coupler for 8 years, and it's been great. I DID spend the time adjusting it properly before driving.

I ALSO HAVE STIFFER SUSPENSION AND MOTOR MOUNTS!

This should be thought of as a complete system. If you only change SOME parts, but haven't looked at the whole picture, you may have a difficult time setting it up properly. Also, be careful of feedback from people who don't say what's in their complete system.

Here's what I have, so that you know where I'm coming from:
- 911 SC COUPE
- WEVO Classic short throw shifter with performance bushings (delrin/nylon)
- WEVO Performance Coupler
- WEVO Black Engine mounts
- Porsche Sport Stiff rubber Transmission mounts

Then I tuned/adjusted this as a complete system and it works perfectly.

If you have OLD transmission and engine mounts, YOUR MOTOR/TRANNY WILL MOVE A LOT. This WILL have an effect on shifting, especially if you've modified the shifter and linkage.

Cheers,

- Craig_D

I like my JWEST. I don't know if it is necessarily better than Wevo, because I have no experience with Wevo.

Yes the JWEST sifter is available in anodized black or polished silver.

I’m in the market for one of these two. Initially I was going to go with the WEVO classic but I think I’m set on the rennshift now.

-less money
-more adjustable (2 throw reduction setting vs 1)
-entire unit is new vs reusing old components

It seems few people have compared them side by side but they both seem to be well made and well received by their owners.

Less money usually doesn't make it as good or better.

Neither does reusing 35 year old components. By all accounts they are both quality units with happy owners. On paper at least, the rennshift seems to give you more for less.

The Wevo is good for the autocross car, but for the Project Car I want an entirely different driving experience (more stockish) so went with a factory short shift kit. The jury is out on that as of yet, but I don't like the spring loaded effect of the Wevo so I think the factory part will work as well or better.
