72 to 3.2 conversion - looking for muffler

Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes a 3.2 Carrera muffler with a tailpipe configured to fit the stock 72 left rear bumper exhaust cutout? The 3.2 Carrera stock tip sits too far down/away from the opening. Ideally looking for a 'sport' muffler. Thank you.

TurboThomas in the UK can surely help you.

If it’s just the angle of the tip, drive the car to your local muffler shop. They can cut the tip off and reweld it to whatever angle you like, in 1/2 hour. Should cost $40-50.

Thank you for the replies. I have the expertise and equipment to do the tail pipe surgery, but since I want to upgrade to a 'sport' muffler, was hoping for a plug and play. Probably not enough of a demand for the 3.2 to early 911 conversion to make it worthwhile for a manufacturer.

A Carrera muffler typically will not fit in an early chassis. The catalytic converter that travels along the driver's side engine bank exits too far forward and too far to the left leaving little room for the tailpipe angle needed. We've built a few mufflers that fit the Carrera heat exchanger setup with S or GT3 tailpipes but none with the OEM tailpipe exit. Best bet for this application may be to modify a stock Carrera muffler.

I have a 1989 3.2 in my 1972 911T and went with the Dansk Sport muffler.
Yes, it does not use the original exhaust cut out, however it sounds
fantastic and looks good with the dual center tips.

This !

That dansk also appears to only work with SSI's. I think OP might have the stock heat exchangers and cat still.

If funds allow go for ssi or headers and a 2in 2out muffler

I have an amazing Bursch glass pack I had on my 3.2 M491. Best sounding muffler ever, IMHO. Will this work?

Any drone at freeway speeds? I have a 3.2 in my '71 with a muffler that drones so badly that it's fatiguing to drive...

MagnaFlow worked great for me.

Not that I can notice, however my 5th gear has a loud whine at
highway speed that may cover any drone.
That's the next project on the list...
