Racers Group #66 retires with CV joint failure, at less than 2 hours from the finish. You can't win 'em all.

With so many parts flying around the track it was more like a slalom. That inside digital monitor was cool.

I got back from Sebring late last night, once again a awesome race. You knew either a Alex Job or Racers Group Porsche would win GT,this time it was Alex Job's turn.We also had a great turn out in the Porsche paddock, wall to wall Porsches including a 959-it was #6 off the assembly line!!!! The guy that brought it there said he got hooked up with someone in Europe who had it as a rally car, bought it,then worked with the EPA for about 3-4 months getting everything straight to bring it in the country!!What a drop dead beauty of a car.

I was intermittently watching the race from the garage tv set, while tuning the 'Bomber with the new Gunson Gastester.
(Great little tool, BTW.) Was thinking of all you lucky Floridians, basking in the sun down at the track. And I see from the telecast there were also some fine-looking women there as well. What a life!

Silly question. Why would a CV joint failure end their race?
Must have taken other parts out with it I suppose?

The announcers didn't dig up too many details. But a few shots of the RG pit crew looking under the car told the tale. Their body language said, "terminal". Ironically, this race was the last one for this particular GT3R. The announcer said it was being sold (or given?) to the CEO of RG sponsor, Monster Cable, for his collection.

Did you all hear the interview with the Prez of Porsche of America? He said that now that all of the top engineers were done working on the Cayenne, it was likely Porsche would start working on a prototype car to go for the outright wins in the Le Mans series.
should be fun!!

I thought the racers group got three new GT3 RS's? If so, why were they running the 'old' car? BTW, there's a pretty sweet article on one of the cars in the new excellence.
Anybody notice the AJR #24 car go from P21 to P5 after tranny problems? Unbelievable!

I got back about 2 am Monday from my first Sebring and I have to say it was great . I've grown up around the Indy 500 and many months of May and I have to say Sebring rates right up there with the 500 as far as fan excitement . I've already got my 35mm photos developed and I'll try and scan some in when I get time. I was looking in the Porsche corral and noticed 1 car from Michigan and 2 from NJ which was nice to see someone represent us snow people. Bottom line , this is a must see event.

I managed to be in the pits with the Bob Garretson crew in the early 80's. Bruce Anderson was part of the crew then. It was fantastic. I loved every minute of it. I recently saw Bruce at the Cimarron Tech session and he recalled the event. Hurley Haywood won the event in the Bayside Disposal car. What a race. We stayed in a little motel that had a shrimp seafood restaurant. We ate boiled shrimp, drenched in butter, drowned ourselves in beer. Hoorah.
