1978 911 SC CIS intake question
 

Getting ready to install my intake tubes on my 1978 911. My question is can I reuse the old nuts or should I purchase new ones. I have this thought after I got new nuts with my valve cover gaskets.
Also anyone in the Minneapolis area that could that has worked on a 1978 CIS system that could help me with a smoke test and fuel distributer install.

You can use the old nut's with wave washers. not lock washers.

I could help you with your smoke test and FD install but I am not local. Unless you want someone to be physically present to help you, I’m out. We could do FaceTime and walk you through the procedure. Even a caveman could do it (joke).

Bring up your concern or questions and people will be giving you their their different advices. What is your worry about FD install? Is the engine in or out of the car?

My problem started with a stuck piston in the FD. I had a hard time removing the piston but it is finally out. I cleaned everything with brake cleaning spray. It slides now but I am not sure if it slides good enough. Does the fuel from the WUR lubricate the piston so it will move more freely?
I have the engine out off the car now. The last item to address is the CIS system. My air box visually looks great. I am replacing all the rubber parts and O rings. Want to make sure I have everything right before I put the CIS on the engine and put the engine back in the car.

Starting to feel like a smoke test sticky might be helpful to the forum. I’d offer to write one up but my limited experience would likely take the group backwards than provide any real help.

Plus 1 on Old Spool's suggestion for a sticky on this procedure. Seems like a nearly continuous topic/project, especially for those of us with CIS.
Ordering a smoke machine today myself.
