Fuel injector hat

I know this is a dumb question but what does the little plastic hat on the fuel injector do? I notice that at some places the hat is not included . I have found the problem with my terrible misfire . Cylinder number one is firing very weak . Not the plug or spark. I will buy a quality injector to replace and test.

Consider sending to Mr Injector for service /flow tests
If they are shot Bill will let you know
