Muffler Recommendations for 1983 911SC Dansk?
My '83 SC that I imported from Japan is nearing completion.
I'm looking for feedback and recommendations on a replacement muffler. The car has stock heat exchangers and cat bypass pipe. I searched and couldn't find much information on just fitting the stock Dansk Unit (1 in 1 out) with 60mm tip. Thanks, JF |

Dansk makes a couple of sport mufflers that would work well.
There have been some recent threads about single in mufflers, if you spend some time searching.

Look at the M&K too. I have the 2-1 version and love it. I don’t know what kind of performance or sound upgrade the 1 in versions offer but the quality is superb and they are much lighter than the stock or Dansk version. If you have the opportunity to save weight from behind the rear wheels you should take it.
I don’t know if you want to retain the sock appearance but the M&K 1-2 with the center out GT3 tips looks like a good choice too.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you want, but if you look here there are a number of one in one out choices. https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/pel_search_2016.cgi?description=sport+muffler&LastVisited_input=911M&make=POR&FILTER_SVSVSI_0791=ON&Category_Parts=ON&Category_TechArticles=ON&description_side=sport+muffler&GoSearchSideFlag=&command=DWsearch

I have a 1in1out M&K in my otherwise stock exhaust SC. It sounds great and weighs about half of stock.

If it is meant to be a direct replacement for the original I’d imagine it sounds and performs the same as the original.

Here is a picture of our muffler and pre-muffler installed on a Carrera, also fits SC.
Weight is 10 pounds, sound is sporty but not loud. Material is 321 stainless.

M&K are an unbeatable combination of price and quality and would be my first choice in your situation.

I just installed the 70 mm tail pipe Dansk two month ago. The fit was very good and it bolted right onto the cat ('86 3.2L). It has a nice sound to it, but is not overwhelmingly loud for my neighbors. I looked at the 84 mm tail pipe version as well, but it was too loud for my personal taste.
If you have any Porsche meeting close to you, you should check it out and see if you can find cars with the different mufflers installed. I did this last year at Hershey, PA to find the right muffler for me. Juergen

We had the M&K test pipe and 1in/1out on a Carrera and it sounded great. Not obnoxious, but more aggressive than the stock one. I found myself throwing revs at it from time to time just to hear it.
