83 sc heat exchanger loose

Today while cleaning the underside of my engine (on stand) I noticed the tin part of the heat exchanger was a little loose from the header pipes. Not seriously loose, but noticeable. Is this something to be seriously concerned about?
Thx

Hugh,

The tin surround in your OEM heat exchangers as they get old and rusty tend to get loose or rattle. I had heat exchangers similarly like yours. Either you do some welding or apply epoxy paste between the main headers and the tin surround to reduce the hot air from escaping or leave them as is.

I guess you use the HE more often than those in the Southern Hemisphere including us. Keep driving the car. The more you are able to take it out the more they become reliable. Keep us posted. Thanks.

Thanks Tony
I was thinking that way but was hoping to have confirmation.
As you may have read I have the engine out (my first drop) and am now awaiting new clutch and seals to reassemble , then the job of reinstalling.
Hopefully itll all go well.
Cheers

Oil pressure switch.........

Hugh,

I had posted a while back how to prevent the oil leak coming from the oil pressure switch. Apply a bead of JBWeld on top of the oil pressure switch to prevent from premature failure or massive oil leak on top of the motor.
