Widebody Safari

Anyone have any experience with widebody Safari’s?. I’ve seen a few examples, most recently a Keen Project 930.

Would love to hear any info or plus/minuses. Thanks!

Speaking in generalities here:
Wide track off road vehicles are set up that way, because of the long suspension components allowing them to take rough terrain while maintaining control.
For every inch that you run a wider track on a 911, your are increasing the levered forces into the suspension that it was not meant to handle. So expect broken suspension parts as we as reduction in car control. Look at the current crop of rally cars and note the negative offset of their set ups. They keep the wheels in nice and tight

The other problem with a wider car is clearance compared to a narrow one. The narrower car will be able to navigate the course quicker, all other factors being equal. You are not running on a wide paved race track.

Now, the SCRS was a wide body, but when used off road , they went with narrow rims. So did the preponderance of European rally competitors with their 934 inspired mini flares. Wider body= yes, Wider wheels? NO

I'm sure the wider flares are there to allow as much suspension movement as possible and protect from tons of flying rocks, dirt, and minimizing water splash on the windows
