Stand alone ECU options for a 3.2

I'm planning to fit a stand alone ECU and harness for my 3.2 engine swap, the reason is to be able to tune it more easily (already got a got a good EFI tuning background, mainly with Holley and HP Tuners) and to be able to diagnose any fault that may occur, plus its good to have a closed-loop engine management. So for the guys who already did it, what kit did you use? and what are the options that I can choose from? I already heard about VEMS, but would like to know about other options as well.

Megasquirt2 has worked out well for me. I purchased it in kit form from DIYautotune and it is also offered in fully assembled versions. For the crank trigger, Goingsuperfast offers pulleys and trigger holders at a reasonable price.

VEMS is the only one that is plug and play afaik. Meaning you can retain original engine harness and not cutting anything etc. Comes with integrated wideband also.

To my knowledge the only directly interchangeable ECU for the 3.2 Carrera, is Canems in the UK. The swap is literally done in 2 minutes. Unplug the old Motronic, and plug in the new Canems ECU. Start and go. Then you can start to play with it, and do whatever you want. You can do twin plug, you can do ITB, wide band lambda, coil packs, bigger cams, other injectors, skip the ICV, do MAF or MAP sensors, the list is endless. And you can do one little thing at a time. And have data logging and diagnostics, that the old Motronic never had.
No affiliation...

VEMS is the same with only difference that VEMS uses proper TPS and built in wideband lambda. Everything is plug and play, no need to cut wires and is easily reversible.

Hello,
I have the DME Shop afm, will your ECU work with that?

VEMS does not use AFM, it uses built-in MAP sensor. Kit comes with short adapter wire that is used to connect air temp sensor to AFM connector.

Similar to this:
911 Vitesse MAF Kits
I incorrectly used AFM, instead MAF. The problem with the AFM is they are all used, so even "repairing" them is only working on used parts. The MAF is the logical extension into the future for cars that are staying closer to stock.

MAP sensor with closed loop wideband lambda will have better tunability and makes it possible to use ITB's, turbocharger, supercharge etc. There is no issues with intake pulsations like with MAF when using wild cams and/or ITB's.
Plus most kits still use ancient idle/wot switch not proper TPS which really hurts throttle response.
