80 SC Hot start problem
Been having a Hot start problem. I checked the FA for malfunction by taking the fuel return line off the bottom and plugging the return line, pressurized the system and no evidence of fuel leaking through FA so I hooked up my gauge to the fuel supply line before the accumulator and ran the FP to 3 bars shut the FP off and the pressure dropped to zero immediately. does this confirm the check valve is bad?
Thanks, Chad |
I did hook up the gauge with the valve closed so I could isolate the check valve test

FP residual pressure test.......

That was a good way to test and isolate the FP check valve. This is also a good time to inspect your fuel lines. Tony |
Thanks Tony, i will definitely inspect those while im under there. Glad it was the cheaper part!

It has been a long time ago that I had the hot start issue and the fault was with the internal check valve in the fuel pump. Ordered the external check valve to fix the problem. I do remember having an issue with a missing part required to connect the new check valve to the banjo fitting. As a suggestion take a close look at what is needed to add an external check valve to the fuel pump. I was not happy when the new valve came but I needed one more part to hook it up to the banjo fitting.
