Can passenger side seat swap into driver's side?

My beloved '86 Targa has a broken driver's side power seat; something is amiss with the seat reclining mechanism and it either doesn't work or else torques one side so that the top is crooked. Needs work. Don't want to do.

I have a chance to buy an '84 passenger side non-powered seat and would love to replace the broken driver's side power seat with it. Does anyone know if it will fit? Is there anything that makes the driver's and passenger's side seats unique?

Hope this works as I can't stand the trouble prone power seat. All I need is old fashioned manual forward/backward and seat recline adjust.

I don't know if anything changed in the later cars with power seats, but when I was having the left seat recovered in my '77 911, I temporarily moved the right seat over to the left without any issue - other than the adjustment controls were obviously on the wrong side.

I swapped the seats in my 82sc as the drivers side was much more worn. The only funky thing is that release lever is now on the inside edge of each seat. Are seat belts attached to the seats in newer cars?

Swapping the seat backs is not a big deal and saves the driver’s side outside bolster.
Swapping the seat bottoms is a no go as stated above (seat belt attachment), controls will be on inside, for-aft lock teeth may not line up.

My 82 SC, with sport seat would not let you swap seat backs. The inner mount of each seatback was a shoulder bolt. The mount was 2 or 3 bolt.
