Chrome plater?

I have a few trim pieces for our 73.5 targa that need to be replated. Trim under the targa glass and door tops. These parts are early enough to not be Aluminium.

Any trusted recommendations?

What about Shaun at True6? He’s on this board and does a ton of playing work for members.

I've been told that those parts as well as the door window frame on Targas is brass, which should chrome plate beautifully. I'm curious if your parts confirm this.

Some day I want to strip the black of my Targa trim and chrome plate...

I've never used Shaun at True6, but support using our own members, and he seems to be a good guy.
That being said, I get hundreds of parts from these guys on a regular basis. Although my parts are nickel plated. They supply the majority of metal parts to the US guitar industry, so they're familiar with decorative work, and they're the best I've found.
And they do a ton of automotive stuff, too.

+1 for Shaun.

Yes these are brass, later parts are aluminum.

Got some sources, thanks guys.

Hi JH, I'm also looking for a good plater. Did you find some you could recommend? Many thanks!
Mike

In the end, Porsche had the parts new for less than the cost of plating.

Yeah, you're far better off trying to find a local plater. My buddy in Milwaukee had found a local commercial plater guy that did automotive stuff on the side because he was a gearhead. Brought him a 5 gallon bucket of multiple cars' worth of suspension hardware, brake backing plates, spring plates, etc. Cost was $35 for yellow zinc instead of more than a grand. Will it win a car show? Nope, thank god. But it's good enough for me.

The black areas on the parts in the pics above are due to my poor prep.

Only bummer is that this place is only open a couple days a month now due to the pandemic.

Advanced Plating in Tennessee is the best place for auto chrome in the country. Many platers won’t touch used auto parts because used parts can be difficult to get perfect and every car guy wants it perfect.

I have a part with Shaun right now. He's says 2 to 3 month wait time. Shawn is a good guy, and I can be patient for a fellow Pelican. (although I am anxious to move this project forward.)
