'74 Carrera Muffler clamps

Putting new Heat Exchangers and muffler on my (US) '74 Carrera. Replacing an old, rusty Bursch muffler that had no clamps on the muffler's main body. However, I see pictures of hose type clamps on either side of the midline on the mufflers supplied by Dansk, etc. Am I supposed to use these? To where do that attach forward of the muffler? Any other suggestios? Looks like the bolts typically supplied are too short. Pictures are worth a thousand words. thanx steve
