believe that chroming affects (pits?) the wheel's finish (i.e. you can't easily unchrome a wheel back to stock finish) -- otoh, polishing also makes a wheel shiny but can be undone -- personally prefer the flatter anodized look myself

i would absolutely not recommend chroming Fuchs rims.
Back in the 1990-in L.A., i have seen a 911 after a big crash in which 3 young kids died. The car was locked up in a container for couple of years during the investigation.
Porsche did a lot of testing on that car and found out that the rims have fallen apart(due the chroming ) in high speed .Those kids had no chance.
So polish is the best you can do if you like shine....

I agree with the above. If you want the mirror-like look, polishing is the better choice. You'll need to buff it once in a while, but it won't damage the wheels in any way.

I too prefer the factory anodized finish, so I had the wheels on my '84 redone:

I have polished lips, my wheels came that way from the PO. I hit them them with mothers polish a couple times a year and so far they have stayed in very nice shape.

Never, ever, chrome real Fuchs. It ruins them. If you have to have chrome, buy some fake Fuchs.

Take it to a chrome shop. Not trying to be funny. A chrome shop will remove it properly.
