Perhaps not the data you want, but I put a set on my Cayenne S tow vehicle a couple years ago. Really like them, they stick surprisingly well on this heavy vehicle. I mean *really* well. Wore them out after two years, went shopping for new tires a couple days ago. The Rosso's were cheaper than anything else I would consider using, so oddly enough I ordered another set.

Thanks for the response Kevin. How many miles did you get out of your tires?

I just put them on my 77 turbo.
They were the only model available with both sizes I needed - 225/50, and 245/45.
I only have 800 miles on them, but I can tell you they are the noisiest set of rubber I have ever experienced on a P-car. Lots of highway hum at anything over 55 mph.
YMMV - depending on suspension settings. But, just going from Khumo's to these I found a whole new sub-set of road noises entering the cabin.
No complaints regarding dry, fair-weather traction. Wet seems to iffy at best, but then that might change once the mold chemicals have had a chance to work out of the tread compound..

A lot of it depends on what you personally want out of a tire, how you, drive and what kind of driving you're doing. A HUGE amount depends on what your car is like, what suspension set up, what year, what's the power like, and weight like.

Are you really buying these with a concern about how quickly they wear? Put it this way, their wear rate will be within +/- 5% of the all the other brands. If wear rate is a weighted concern of yours, I suggest all seasons and not ultra high performance.

Handling? Well, what are they going on and what kind of driving are you going to be doing and on what roads? What's your wheel size, weight and power of the car.

The point I am making is if you stick with some of the top rated tires there are, the differences are going to be so minor that unless you're tracking the car or your car is so perfectly dialed in you need a set of tires to match, then the differences are so minor it mostly comes down to personal preference.

Personally I don't care for the Pirelli's. For no other reason than I ran them on a 993 C4S I had which was a street car I used for some general fun driving and an occasional DE, I simply found them to be a lot louder than the Michelin's I had before them. Since then I have chosen others.

A big issue is that there isn’t much else out there in 245/45-16 tire choices that are street tires.

I have 205/55 and 245/45 16's on my '79. I haven't experienced the road noise that bkreigsr mentions above, but I typically drive my Targa with the top off so I'm hearing a lot of noise as it is - mostly the sweet sound of my 3.0. I only have about 1000 miles on them so I can't comment about wear as yet, but I like their performance thus far. Going from 225's to 245's may be skewing my impressions somewhat, but I'm very pleased with them, including wet conditions.
