Door pocket plastic repair help

Both of these are cracked at the screw into the door handle. Anyone do any repair on these or have ideas on how to fix?

Fiberglassing them comes to mind, especially the one with the chunk missing. There are how-to videos on fiberglassing on YouTube.

Bend some aluminum brackets / reinforcements.
Paint the pieces black.
JB Weld the reinforcements to door panels.
Drill hole through bracket from front of panel.
Reinstall door pocket.

Mine were similar when I bought my car. I used a Dremel to put a "V" in the cracks and used JB Weld Plastic Weld to fill it all in and bind it together. I sanded it and reapplied the JB Weld in any low bits and then sanded again. Finally I sprayed it with VHT Vinyl Paint and re drilled the hole. It's lasted over 4 years and is virtually invisible.

One of the few times JB Weld has been recommended on this forum where it will probably work.

Thanks guys, sounds like I need to find some JB weld... like the reinforcement idea too as some serious stress on these from pulling doors shut

I repaired mine with some small pieces of aluminum. But this looks like a better fix...

I prefer fabricating the aluminum add-on brackets / reinforcements over removing the stock piece and reinstalling those new pieces. The add-on brackets don't require the partial removal of any of the leather / vinyl / carpet trim, drilling out rivets, re-riveting those new pieces in and the subsequent re-gluing of the leather / vinyl / carpet trim.

If your stock bracket is damaged in multiple areas, I could see a use case for the replacement pieces. All of mine were just cracked / split at the screw hole.

In my experience, 99% of the driver side and 75% of the passenger side door pockets inner screw holes are cracked / split in this manner.

I have posted a repair of the non plastic part of the door pocket using a mesh tape and jb weld. The same process could be applied to the hidden side of the plastic piece. Sand and paint black to cover the repair.
