M&K Single In/Out Feedback request
It's nearly impossible to sift through years of layered exhaust threads, so apologies for contributing to the sprawl.
Considering an M&K system for my stock 3.2 with SW chip. MKM33 Single In/Out Muffler with removeable OEM tip Leaning toward: MKM72 Sport Cat Second choice: MKM60 Bypass Pipe I'd appreciate any comments from those that have this setup...particularly if there is a drone issue, and whether you would recommend Bypass vs Sport Cat. Thanks! |
M&K exhaust
Good morning,
I have had a M&K one in one out with a M&K Cat bypass on my 1982 SC for about a year. I first removed the Cat and installed the bypass with the factory muffler - car ran great but after a few months I decided to go with the M&K muffler. In my opinion, the sound is outstanding and there is no drone, however it is a bit loud. If you are concerned about it being too loud, I would recommend the M&K pre-muffler in place of the Cat bypass. I am extremely happy with the quality of the M&K products. Dave |
Great info, thanks!

I had this set up on an 87 Carrera. M&K 1 in 1 out, cat bypass, and Steve Wong chip. I didn't find it to be overly loud or drone at all. It just sounded a lot better and more aggressive when the revs were up. It also made a noticeable improvement on acceleration. I think it's a great mod, go for it, you won't regret it.

I have a 1 in 1 out w/ a SW chip but w/ stock cat. Love the sound. No drone sounds great at WOT and under load but aside from initial startup won't wake my neighbors up when leaving early for cars & coffee.

I liked my M&K 1 in/1 out with cat bypass pipe on my 3.2. With a Wong chip I think it's the most cost effective "Stage 1" upgrade for these cars. Not too loud but not quiet either and importantly no drone.
Wonderful workmanship too. |
Thanks again!

I've got th same setup as Dave. Nice cold startup sound. Almost wish it was louder. No drone. Doesn't piss of the neighbors. I like it. And it saved some weight over the stock exhaust.

Thanks again all... Think I’ll give them a call an get it rolling this week.
But first a really dumb question. Will the stock muffler drop out or does the rear valance need to be removed first? |
The muffler will clear with a tug.

Excellent...thank you!
