Battery charge
what procedures need to be followed to charge a battery in an 88 911 w/o removing the batt?

Get battery charger. Connect postive lead from charger to battery. Connect negative lead from charger to a ground somewhere on the car other than on the battery! Charge battery.

plug in the 110 / house cord after the battery connections are hooked up. when you are done, unplug the 110 outlet first.

Remove cables from battery prior to charging. If this is not a maintenance free battery, open the top caps to vent. Charge over night. You can test the battery charge with a voltmeter. A healthy battery should read about 12.5 or more and should not drop to less than about 10.5 when under starting load.

I trickle charge my batteries at 2 amps...the early dual battery set-up, so I do leave the cables connected in order to charge both at once. These are gel cells, and so far, it seems to work just fine...I use a Sears charger that has the "automatic" feature of shutting itself off when the batteries are fully charged. I wouldn't buy a charger without this feature.

if you car starts, then let it run for about 20 minutes....this should recharge the battery (if all electricals are in order)
