Stop the Whistling! Door seal help please

New to me 75 couple with what looks to be new door seals (recent repaint too). Drivers door fits fine and gaps look good, although I have to pull the door handle pretty hard and fast to close it.

Issue is at speed the door whistles like a MoFo. My ears are ringing....

The sound is coming front the front of the window, up along the top ridge.

Gasket is glued in and looks like its in correctly.

The door gasket feels a bit stiffer than other doors I own on other cars, but I don't know the density of the Porsche door gasket seal...

do I just need to pull it out and reglue it in and if so, any tips or is it that there are different types of door seals available and I should be looking for a replacement?

All postive comments welcome!

When I got my 87 I was sure there was something wrong with it (never having driven one until I flew to California to pick it up!).

It could be just the way it is. Also could be the windshield seal as they tend not to fit well in the upper corners.

Later cars had a secondary felt seal that fit between the door window frame and the body, presumably to help with noise in this area. Could be retrofit as it's held in with screws.

Jonny, I know is the door. as if I play with the seal by the window while driving I can change the pitch and such... owning several 911's over the years, this is a fixable issue.

I had not thought of felt, but I'm thinking or hoping its ether pulling and re-sealing it with the existing gasket or being recommended a new one

Take a piece of paper and put it between the door seal and the window frame and close the door.

it should be tight as you try an pull it through- locate the gap area and establish if it is the seal or do you need to adjust the window frame. My guess is if it was repainted they may have removed frame and it needs a slight tweak adjustment angling more to the car.

Ah, good point Speedster... Where does the window frame get adjusted and is there a process or guide?

i was thinking window frame as well.

there is some adjustability for the frame to lean into or away from the car. main point is at the bottom of the frame just behind where the speaker is in the door. the door panel needs to come off, at least partially, to get to that one.

basically, you'll need to loosen all of the attachment points for the frame, adjust it inwards, and then tighten everything up again...

I had a similar problem with my 86 930. I told my Porsche mechanic friend about this and asked him how I should go about adjusting the window frame.
Standing outside the car he opened the door, lowered the window, grabbed the door with his left hand and put his other hand on top of the window frame near the top of triangle window. At this point he looked at me and said “if I break the triangle window I won’t be responsible, okay?” I gave him the go ahead and he proceeded to push in at top of frame in a impactful fashion. He explained that this is how he was trained to fix this problem by Porsche! I have to say it made a noticeable difference in wind noise, although, it’s still fairly loud.
I recently purchased a 993 coupe. I noticed that the wind noise in this car is far less than my earlier cars. I suspect the way the windshield is mounted is one difference but I also noticed Porsche had taken great care in sealing the window frame against the car. They have added a second seal on the outside edge of the window frame, I’m guessing that is the biggest difference.
