3.0 sc Dansk aftermarket fuel tank screen mesh size
Hi All
So there have been numerous threads/posts on this forum (believe me ive been part of some of them) on how to insert a pre fuel pump screen/filter in line before the fuel pump to prevent the fuel pump from consuming un screened raw fuel, if we use an aftermarket Dansk fuel thank that does not have an internal screen/filter (I have done lots of research on this subject). Len on this forum has some great products, I think I will purchase one. The question I have is, what screen size, typically in microns, do we need for our bosch (typically) fuel pumps, on an SC. I read fuel injection sites and they quote 40/50 microns (the 'hole' size) as being optimal, Len provides a 40 or 50 micron screen/filter, and a 100 micron screen/filter. Is 100 microns 'small' enough to prevent particles destroying the fuel pump. Im afraid I can only work in microns, most websites on the subject work in Microns, but I guess I can convert (I think US mesh is another way to measure) I know there shouldn't be 'bits' in our fuel, but in reality, there are. Thanks. |

This is not good, im replying to my own post. Well it looks like ive asked a question that does not seem to have an easy answer. After more research the answer still seems to be 100 microns pre fuel pump, and around 40 post fuel pump, pre injectors. So it looks like im looking for 100 micron filter/screen, that has a big surface area. Some screen/filters, when you look at the filter element, the actual area is the same as a quarter. Probably not enough, it would get blocked quickly. The SUSA/SETRAB filters look good, apparently they do one that is 100 microns, and the actual filter element looks like some kind of molded porous material with a bigger overall surface area. Think that's the way I will go...but...GRAMS does a 100 micron screen/filter that has a HUGE surface area...
