Trunk light early cars

I wanted to replace the lens for the trunk light in my '71 it seems to be part 901.632.201.01 so I ordered two from my host (mine are very yellow). When they arrived there are orange bits that look like gaskets but in both lights they are broken:

I sent a picture to Pelican and they sent me out two more lights, I requested they check them to make sure the gasket was intact. They arrived today and they're broken in exactly the same way. So I'm four for four without having a gasket, am I wrong is this not a failure?

I ordered just the replacement gaskets and they are solid, one piece.....well, gaskets. My vote is you are 0 for 4. Good luck getting it resolved.

Did the seal you got look like the orange thing above only intact? the only thing I can find listed separately looks entirely different: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/90163229100M100.htm?pn=901-632-291-00-M100&bt=Y&fs=0&SVSVSI=5867

The one in the link you posted is what I have for my '70. Lays flat on the lens. That's probably what you need unless the lens you have is made different in some way from the original lens. Can't tell for sure, but the sealing surface to the hood should be smooth/flat.

+1 my 1971 (with a 70 build date) has the white gasket as shown in the link above.

Also, be sure to install the light/lens the correct way so the light is aimed down at the trunk not projected away from the trunk toward the front of the car. Owners manual shows correct orientation. I see so many of these installed upside down.

thanks I'm still curious what the Orange bands are meant for then? they're in all four of the lights I have, and are formed to follow the outline of the light housing itself. All of them are broken though.
