all doors the same size?

I did try to search the archives. I think the doors are interchangeable from most years. but I want to make sure before I spend good $ on a door from a later car only to find it won't fit my 71.

the door I have will work, but I think it would be quicker and maybe cheaper to get a good used door, than fix this one up. (funny spot in middle looks like somone filled a bullet hole w/ the mig welder and never applied the grinder)

OH, also fenders! I have assumed that my lwb early 911 have longer fenders? so for that I am limited to years 68-73? there is a similar spot on left fender.

TIA,

paul

Not sure about everything else, but '69 and earlier cars use a different style door stay that does not directly match up with '70 and newer attachment points.

I just replaced a 70 door with a <69 and other than fitting almost perfectly it had a few issues.

The door stay/stops have different thread spacing than the 70-?, it was much better to use different stops than try to grind the holes oblong.

The plate at the back (above the outside handle) for the top two allens are a smaller size and have to be drilled out to acommdate the threads in the later window frame.

I also had problems with the two flat pieces that tie the door skin to the inner panel. It may have just been my door/frame, but I had to grind about 1/2inch of aluminum(that stuff tastes horrible) from under the frame at the small triangle window so the frame would sit lower into the door and clear the top of the door jam.
I also had to grind the front edge a little to move the frame forward.
The top was also pulled inwards as far as possible to follow the lines of the jam and required using the long allen key with the ball end. Then there were problems with the motor/regulator assembly being on a different plane than the frame.

It's probably easier to line up without the windows.

BTW- Rudy, all the car looks like it needs is a dull chisel and a little cut and polish LOL.
