911 SC sunroof doesn't close properly

I bought an 1978 911 SC with a sunroof and I can't make it to work properly.

Problem is - it doesn't close. It's super slow and sounds very pained. So I've put out anything, cleaned and greased anything, tried a different motor. Nothing has changed.

The wires/cables look great, if the motor is not attached to the gear/transmission part it doesn't sound so pained, it spins fast and compared to my other car (where I got the spare motor from as a test motor) - sounds the same. The rubber thing looks good.

Any idea what I could try?

Have you tried closing it with the manual handle instead of the motor? It may highlight the problem

The black link between motor and trans may look good but has possibly failed.

No problem. The reason for suggesting this was that I fitted new seals to mine last year and the roof would not close fully afterwards, I assume because of some misalignment of the seals. I closed it using the handle which maybe allowed a little more pressure to be applied than through the motor and it closed fully. It now operates properly. Of course this may not be your problem but it could isolate something. Good luck

Thank you Ian, yeah, some more pressure might help, right now it's really slow and sounds agonized .. (don't now if that was the right word - google translate helped me)
