Missing bushing inside distributor?

Hi all, my mechanic is cleaning my distributor from my 82 SC- it has a high idle issue. He found that there was no bushing below the timing plate- I'm not sure if this is normal or not. He feels something should be there. Also we need a new pin for the gear at the bottom of the shaft- are those available?

See pics for shaft angle with no bushing.. He said he thinks it's binding up. I've never done a distributor before so I'm not sure.- Sorry I don't know how to rotate the image..

Thanks for the reply E Sully- I saw that thread but it didn't seem to indicate if the shaft should have a bushing there, or if that is normal for it to just be sitting there like that..

so, you are not missing a bushing. You just need to understand how it all goes together.

Your picture shows the parts upside down. The inner spindle that holds the rotor and the advance weights will sleeve on the central shaft and the lower pins engaged into the slots in the advance plate.

the large plate in the picture is the vacuum advance plate. It works by rotating the magnetic coil pickups when the vacuum pod is pulled (or pushed if you have advance and retard). Your vacuum advance plate looks completely hosed. I would replace it. The inner section with the pin (next to the two fingers) should rotate inside the two outer plates. Its a sandwich.

You definitely need a full distributor rebuild. or find a replacement.

Here is a thread when I went through my 1973 distributor. Is the 4th picture in that thread what you are referring too, the phenolic sheet and fiber washers? https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/692119-distributor-maintenance.html
