Transmission Vibration

Hi,

Looking for some help! Recently had a top end rebuild on my 87 911. We also replaced the clutch and had the flywheel cut. Now I have about 1500 hundred miles on the engine and notice a bad transmission vibration and extremely had shifting at high RPM's. Thought it might be the tranmssion mount or motor mounts, but they were replaced. Has anyone had a similar situatrion.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Vibration can be related to clutch stuff, or can be related to wheels, CV joints, etc. But vibration caused by transmissions is fairly rare, in my experience.

grinding a warped flywheel flat again makes it unbalanced. always replace a warped flywheel. maybe they didn't pay attention to the fact that it may have been warped. take it back.

Does it vibrate in neutral or only in gear? What make clutch did you put in? Did the symptoms develop over time ore were they there from the start?

Tim,

There is no vibration in neutral, or at least very minimal vibration. We put in an OEM clutch, and it wasn't obvious at first but got worst very quickly. I'm told now that it's probably a defective pressure plate and that is sometimes happens.

are you talking about a vibration which increases as the RPM is raised, or only as you let the clutch out, or work the pedal?

The vibration increases as the RPM's increase, but only at high RPM's.
We'll be tearing in down this weekend and I get back with the results. Thanks for all the input.
