newbie question re: workshop manuals?
I've tried to purchase a workshop manual for my 911 ('97 993) via Pelican but have been told that even if I order now it may well take months to arrive !! the chap I spoke to said that if I post here some of you guys might be able to help / have a spare copy for sale?
Any help would be much appreciated, Pete in Manchester, England. |
Pete, I ordered a set of manuals for my 993 back in August and I'm still waiting. I ordered through a Porsche Dealer.

any idea why this info seems to be in such short supply? - if it is available surely we should be able to get hold of a copy without waiting over six months!
thanks, Pete |
You might keep checking ebay...That's how Evren got his manuals. You problem may be that a 993 is too new for people to want to sell their manuals?

I spoke with my Porsche dealer and he told me that Porsche will not send the request to the printer until they have a certain number of paid orders. This came up because a poor guy ordered a shop manual for a 944 and Porsche required 100 paid orders before they would print something like 125. It turned out he needed 99 more orders before he could get his. You would think it would be illegal not to have copies of facotry manuals reasoanbly available on the newer cars since it would necessarily drive the purchaser into requiring the dealer to fix the car.
PS This is hearsay upon hearsay so take it for what it's worth. |
You might give my-porsche a try, I got my turbo manuals from them (although I got the Carrera manuals on ebay). http://www.my-porsche.com/
Good luck! |
