Headlight Switch Harness Question

I recently upgraded to CarMagic LEDs for my dash as well as fixed all the bad lamps on the ventilation control panel. One item I added was a remote dimmer from CarMagic since my switch was acting up in that area

Removing the switch to add the dimmer was a lot more difficult because of the tight space etc, but I managed to get everything done, tested all worked and mounted the dimmer. I re-installed and then found everything wasn't working. Pulled switch out again and found the harness was disconnected from the main circuit so I re-installed BUT there is one solid red wire from the harness that wasn't connected to anything. I tested lights (which are on J West relays), turn signals, horn, all dash lamps, all electrical items etc and everything works perfectly. Can anyone tell me what that solid red wire in the harness is for? I am horrid at reading German wiring schematics but given everything is working I am confused by how what looks like a main feed could be excluded and get the results I am getting? I was going to multi meter the wire and pull fuses to see if that would point in one direction but thought asking experts would be a better starting point

1977 Targa

I appreciate any guidance

pictures if that red does need to be connected and to what?

Are you able to post a photo of the red wire and the general space?

Grey/Red wire goes to 58R terminal on headlight switch.
(Your wire should be grey/red.)

Thanks Dennis..but its a solid 12 gauge red that is dangling BUT....

Problem solved though, our friends at Kroon Wiring in Europe kindly mailed me with this response

I think your headlight switch harness must have been replaced at some time for an earlier one.
The red wire was only in earlier headlight harnesses used from 1969 till 1975.
Starting from 76 it was removed.

That explains why everything is functional despite the dangling orphan

Thanks all

Good catch Gerald, harness replaced by someone, or one left over from previous years in the parts bin used during assembly. (Porsche assembler knew it would work)
6th wire on a 5 wire connector.
This is why pictures are so important.
