83SC cruise control cable question

I have the typical broken cruise control cable attachment that I fixed with a zip tie and glue 12 years ago....(check your zip ties every year, they degrade and break)

I wanna get around to replacing this soon

first, in order to prioritize (new cable is expensive) I need to understand something I could never find the answer to.....say I never use the cruise control, does pressing on the gas pedal move this cable inside the cable sleeve at all or does it only see use when the cruise control is used?

I recall originally discovering the problem while accelerating normally, not using cruise control

Thanks

No movement from throttle action. It just sits there as long as the plastic clip is secure in the bracket. You just don't want that clip coming out of the bracket and hanging up the throttle.

Thanks! Good to know it can’t be a danger if you avoid the cc
