Fuel flow problems solved: Mouse nest
Hello Colleagues .. Frank reporting in from the field. I was at the Lime Rock PCA Club race in the race last weekend, debut for my ( new to me) 74 RSR . Suffered serious fuel starvation problems to the PMOs. :( The DAWE boys finally narrowed it down to crap coming out of my fuel cell. suggested opening up and cleaning as the foam might be disintegrarting etc. Well. i did as directed,. Turns out there was a huge friggin mouse nest inside the fuel cell.. critter had chewed up the foam crapped everywhere etc. you cannot make this up. the cell was secondhand and had been stored for awhile, i guess without capping. does not look like the mouse got to the kevlar.. live and learn.

WOW that sucks. Glad you worked it out.
|
You gotta love it when the fix is that obvious and easy. Cheers.

How did Mice get in there?
|
Doubtless through the filler, which was not capped when the cell was stored somewhere.

Frank you've got to take off that"Kick me" T shirt

Peter, Kevin, and Trevor have an unimaginable wealth of knowledge.
Their shop is like the Cave of Wonders from Aladdin. Glad it's an easy (and inexpensive) fix. |
