SC HP by Year

I've read various numbers online.

1. All SCs have the same HP from 78 to 83

2. 78-79, 80, 81-83 are different, with the number increasing as years increase

3. 78-79, 80-83 are different with 80-83's number lower.

4. 1980 has more than every other year, then in 81, it was reduced back to 79 levels (which makes no sense, but it's on the internet, so it must be true, right?)

Is there a definitive source available that lists this info?

And I'm interested in US cars and not any one-off special editions or turbos.

Porsche Red Book...this is one source you can look around

https://flatsixes.com/porsche-products/porsche-books/porsche-911-red-book-3rd-edition/

There are the Euro SC models too and some in the US....go by engine number

e.g. US '83 SC... 930-16...180 hp …..'83 SC ROW 930-10 (rest of world or Euro) ...204 hp

The "official" Porsche spec is 180 HP for all US SC's.

I've heard several comments that Porsche often understated the HP numbers.

The SC engines went through substantial changes. Some of the changes "should" hurt HP and some of them "should" help. My guess is they were under tremendous pressure to meet ever increasing US and specifically California emissions standards.

Early SC's had larger intake runners (good), smog pump, (bad), lower compression (bad) and no Lambda system (good/bad?).

Later SC's had smaller intake runners, no smog pump, higher compression and Lambda system.

Maybe the good and bad cancelled each other out over the years?

What if you took the best options? Large intake runners, high compression, add some cam and ignition timing "tweaks", freer flowing exhaust. You wind up with just over 200HP and sell it to the ROW market.

A good one is the '82 and '83 SC ROW engine model number 930/10. With SSIs and cams they work well.

This information is from the Porsche PET, it is one of the best resources you can download from the net.
