Front suspension mounting bracket

Hello,

I'm replacing the mounting bracket on the suspension. I'm removing the old one and plan to welded in the replacement bracket.

Since this is my first time doing this..not sure what to look out for..

Anyone attempted this before.. suggestion and comments are much appreciated.

I am interested to see how this goes. I have to do the same on my Rat Rod. I have not been able to find the part to buy, that would replace what's ruined on my car. I can find the entire pedal box panel etc, but didn't want to remove that whole thing to replace those 2 mounts.

try Quality Custom Porsche Panels | Restoration Design Inc. for parts

looks like you need a front pan.

Except those parts do not appear to be part of the suspension pan kit. They do appear to be available separately though.

The process is relatively straightforward for the outer section. Don't forget to weld the top if the "pin" section of the capture nut. This goes all the way up into the front trunk where the front pan meets the bulkhead.

Make sure it is aligned properly (square and level) before burning metal into place.

jpnovak,

I think you have good knowledge about this.. what i'm not sure most is the end of the replacement bracket..where it seem to be cut off at the tip. Is this what you referring to as the "pin"?

if you look at my pic.. the existing bracket is still there. How do get this out? i noticed the inside of the trunk , directly above the bracket is a small bump..could this be the welded tip of the old bracket in place now? and if so , how do removed them.. just cut off the bump?
