Weber jetting for 2.7
Does anyone have a 2.7 that has webers on it? I want to put webers on a 2.7 with E cams, and would like any recommendations on what size venturis, mains, air, idle and emulsion tubes to use.
If no one has a setup for a 2.7, how about a 2.4? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
Send PMO a fax with your engine specs then fit whatever Richard suggests in reply. I did this for my almost 2.7RS spec engine and it was transformed.

Ryan,
Would you mind sharing your specs? |
No problems, PMO recommended:
Street 34 venturis 145 main 180 airs F3 e-tubes 60 idles reg AVS (air velocity stacks) Street/Race 36 venturis 160 main 180 airs F3 e-tubes 60 idles tall AVS I used the Street/Race specs and got ~200hp. (I think Street/Race would be fine for a street car - but motor is a little cammy below 4000rpm) Cheers - Ryan |
Thanks, Ryan. Really appreciate this. Just wondering, does the air jets change with changes in barometric pressure/oxygen availability in the air? When I used to play with VW's, I found that I had to change the air jets when I raced my car on cool nights, when oxygen availability was good, as opposed to when I ran the car in hot, humid weather (oxygen availability not so good). Does this hold true with these jets, as well. If so, perhaps I may need different air jets because of my locale (humid here, relative to most other areas, lots of water vapor in the air).
Another thing. I'm planning on using E-spec cams. Do you think this would have a dramatic effect on the jetting of the carburetors, relative to your RS engine? I'm assuming that when you contacted PMO, you had to give them your engine specs, and not just the displacement. By the way, isn't this neat how a guy from Hawaii can discuss a problem with a guy from Australia! You couldn't do this 20 years ago. Anyway, thanks, Bob. |

No idea on the press/temp thing. The E-cams probably would tho' - I think the easy route is to fax PMO all your specs and see what they see (this is what I did). Cheers - Ryan ps: I agree that the whole Oz to US and beyond thing is pretty neat pps: Here is a pic of the car to liven this thread up a bit http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/1527a.jpg |
This is what I'm currently running on my 2.5L:
Emulsion Tubes: F26 Venturies: 34mm Air Correction: 180 Main Jets: 140 Idle Jets: 55 Runs great, although slightly on the rich side. (btw, solex cams) -- Curt |
Thanks, Guys!
Ryan, Cool car. Got a pic of that Kremer 930? Like to see that! I'll take your advice and get with PMO. Curt, I was looking into the E-cams because I want good bottom end, and I don't drive on the track. Haven't bought any cams yet. How's the Solex cams? I hear they have the same bottom end as the E cams but with better top end. Do you agree with that analogy? May decide on the Solex cams yet. Thanks for the info. Bob. |

Thanks - bunch of Kremer pics are here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75563&highlight=kremer+ 930 Plus you might also find this thread on cams interesting (S cams seem to be stronger everywhere than E cams) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/86252-high-torque-cam-recommendation.html Cheers - Ryan |
