O2 Sensor connection help

Hi all,

Can someone tell me what part number this stupid brittle piece is? I merely touched it and voila! Yes it’s old but come on!

Thanks and sorry for my stupidity lol

Also, what is the function of this 3rd brittle AF wire? I assume it goes to the DME box...

How is this wire replaced? I can’t see where the heck it goes - and certainly how to replace it. Perhaps it could be spliced/soldered?

Thanks fellas

I got mine from one of the member here. Louie85. Pm him. I believe he has an instruction how to install it as well.

For some reason I'm thinking that's a pre-heater wire or something along that line. I think the two pin plug is your sensor wire and the single is a heater for the o2 sensor.

I bought a replacement for mine long ago from a fellow Pelican. Back then there was no replacement for from Porsche, except an entire engine harness, and that was nuts. His new part is a great fix, and you will not regret it.

The 2 wire connector is the heating element. the single wire connector (the broken one) is the signal wire to the Motronic DME, which controls the fuel trim.

Yep.. I had to do some searching but that is correct! I haven't had an o2 sensor on my car since the engine went in but I have a tune that does away with the o2 sensor.

Thank you all for the info & your time in responding... And big thanks to Louie!

2 rebuilds later, I’m still hunting down & replacing plastic/rubber etc parts. Endless! And still so much fun!

Thanks Louie85 for making an excellent product.

My car is running so much better now, huge difference.

Not much room to get at the coaxial green wire and of course the wire itself is super short. A little patience is all it took really. I pried a toothpick to separate the outer shield wire from the inner green wire - and then ran an Exacto blade along the toothpick to slice open the outer shield wire. There simply wasn’t enough room to use my fancy auto wire stripper. Anyhow, worked like a charm.

Highly recommended product for what is was really a dead-end if you break your brittle connector. And you will. It’s several decades old!

Cheers
