Re-wiring Car - Concept

My '77 widebody is somewhat of a miss-match of parts. With that said, my concept is to add updated features to the car for more overall comfort. The engine is a 3.0 running a mix of the Bitz kit for fuel and moving from MegaSquirt to Microsquirt and changing to coil near plugs from a Chevy LS. I'm also in the process of upgrading the headlights to a more modern lighting system and am now looking into the overall wiring system.

I've been researching moving to a generic chassis harness and came across the InfinityBox system. This type of CAN based system allows for the main control unit to be placed near the controls and then have a slave unit in the front and one in the back that has power and CAN network run to it. I'm hesitant to go with this single source as there does not currently appear to be other companies which could supply replacement hardware that is CAN capable.

So, I researched a bit more and found MotoGadget. The m.unit basic (or blue) is interesting. It is intended for a motorcycle but has similar functionality without the CAN network. Two control units would be required (front/back) with light gauge wiring to both.

I also have a fairly highly modified e30 M3 race car that now is running a 1.8 ltr turbo on Megasquirt. The wiring in it has mostly been removed and I'm thinking about using the MotoGadget first on it to test the validity of the concept. But, before I pull the trigger on that, I was curious if there are any other similar products to research?

Both are very interesting. As I was removing the archaic fuse panel in my '74 I'm hot rodding, I was thinking about what I was going to do with the wiring when I put it back together. They are both interesting, but the wire connections on the MotoGadget concern me a little. I would much rather have a soldered connection rather than push in. Whatever you go with please start a thread, I'd love to follow along since I will be doing something very similar next summer when I start putting mine back together.

I am planning to have Dennis (Timmy2) build a complete new harness for my 78 project. engine bay wiring was burned by broken exhaust/muffler.

like you, add some stuff and delete a LOT of non-essential stuff.

will look that what you referenced and will watch this thread.

I'm really, really liking the look of the infinity box system. It looks like they have been around awhile and are fairly proven. The motorcycle system is just too small-scale I think.
