This is what happens when you have ADD

Well in the process of wiring in new distributor I rerouted the wires with a common theme.

ADD or OCD?

Sebscst 05-26-2019 12:32 PM

Unfortunately both I’m doing 5 different things at once and all have to be perfect

RSBob 05-26-2019 07:52 PM

Ocd

ADD, OCD, and Schizophrenia?:)

The man is a mess, however you label it!

winders 05-27-2019 02:44 PM

I see no reason to not route the right side spark plug wires over the fan strap.....and one reason to not do what was done here. Those wires will be an issue when the engine is removed from the car.

Dkennel 05-27-2019 03:39 PM

I agree, my OCD would make me go in and route the wires correctly the way tjenPorsche engineers designed it and have them at the correct length. Seems like a fix for a non existing problem and does not look right to me, but may be more a question of taste...

Sebscst 05-27-2019 03:48 PM

Did not want to route them over the fan strap or the way Porsche did it . How will it be an issue when removing the motor? They are actually the correct length to route over the fan but why cover the fan strap.

AG81 05-27-2019 04:07 PM

This was totally a personal choice/taste issue.....I don't see any issue with removing the engine.....I don't do my mod's based on ease of engine removal......

I would need pics of the rest of the car to determine if your routing of the plug wires was correct or not.

God forbid doing what Porsche did. It must be somehow a flawed choice on their part. Let's be different just to be different.

Having those wires flopping around so they can snag on something is the problem. You really want them in a place they are out of the way.

Also, it looks like those wires are not fully captured by whatever retainers you are using. If one comes loose it will be sucked in toward the fan belt which will saw through the wire in no time.

But hey, it is your car so you should do what you think is best!

wayner 05-29-2019 10:21 AM

I like mine better :-)

Winders please enlighten me as to how any of the wires will come loose as they are all held down by wire separators that are all mounted to sheet metal. Nothing can move. Also nothing against doing it “Porsche’s” way. Just wanted something different to set my car apart.

Hey Warner you’re giving me anxiety looking at those wires, but hey at least they’re for a twin plug:D

Not quite getting the flopping thing either.

Sebscst 05-29-2019 01:01 PM

Rest off the engine bay.

I have CDO. It’s sort of like OCD but the letters have to be in alphabetical order.

winders 05-29-2019 06:37 PM

Excuse the mess on the back left:
