Hey Langers
Everyone pretty much opened a can of wh@@p a$$ on me! I have discovered that open racing is VERY VERY different to sprinting (US - DE's). I'm waiting for some pics' then I will post the whole story. Ryan ps: Can't wait for the next round tho'... |

Ryan,
I just had a look at the ad. Well, it looks like it could be a steal for $40K, but that really depends on two things: 1. How many kilometers has it traveled since the rebuild? 2. How much rust is there, and where? If you like, I can probably find out more about the car by talking to John Gregory's son-in-law, Mike Jacobson. Mike has his own shop, and it's housed within the Spyder Automobiles workshop. John passed away on Tuesday. Matt
I would be interested in finding out a little more about the car (it does seem to be on the cheap side), but don't go to too much trouble. (I heard a rumour that the dash was rusting out???) Thanks - Ryan ps: I heard the sad news about John - he was very well respected in NSW too.

Anyone recall a 74 carrera being for sale around the Newcastle area, a month or so back. It was listed in the PCNSW market place and on drive. From what my memory can serve, it had a bare metal respray 6 years ago, mention of 2.7RS engine, car was a blue colour and listed price was somewhere around the 30 mark. I remember this car, merely because I thought it was great value, too.

$40k? Sounds pretty good to me, especially if it's a well prepared track car. If it was owned by Warwick Miller, then it's likely to be well looked after. Warwick Miller owns an original '73 RSR (Gulf Blue) as well as several classic P-cars (RS60, 356 Speedster etc) and from their presentation, it seems that money is no object as far as preparation/restoration is concerned...

Uh, guys. Yeah a real '74RS is almost a real 73RS. But all other thing being equal, I'd rather have the 73RS replica in the advert above it. I don't care which is real. I see fun in the first one (US guys - halve the price to get to your money):

"John passed away on Tuesday."
Matt, My condolences. As a fellow '74 owner, I read your diary and enjoyed following what happened. It sure sounded like a special experience. I'm sure he will be missed... Ryan

Oops. I mis-read the advertisement entirely. Disregard all the blather about Warwick Miller...
