Headliner replacement question..

I've decided to take on the task of replacing my headliner in my 72 911. I have removed the original foam backed burlap padding and it is in remarkable shape and could be used again. I have installed DYNOMAT on the ceiling, and would like to know if I still need the original padding...seems it would give the headliner some 'shape' and fill to help with wrinkles. Thoughts would be very appreciated.

I wouldn't. The shape is from the bows and the correct tautness of said bows. The foam has sagged into the headliner and given it that shape. The dynamat is plenty.
