Quick AC Wiring Question

Reinstalling my AC and doing the variable fan upgrade from our host's tech section, here:

www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_ac_switch/911_ac_switch.htm

I'd appreciate if someone could confirm what I think to be correct. That is,

Terminal #30 on the relay in the smuggler's box receives power from the red/white wire at the fuse panel (fuse 20A?) -- Yes? If so, terminal #86 on the relay should have 12v when the ignition switch is turned on -- Yes? If so, I think I have a bad relay.

I'm having some elder-confusion over how and from where power gets to the thermostat switch and the fan switch.

Can you post your year?
The pwr term' 30 on my ('87) smugglers box relay is Red, the Red/White went to the switch.
And I'm with you there on the elder thing brother. ;-)

From the Bentley manual power comes of Fuse 2 of Box 3, 25A fuse via red wire.

Thanks very much guys. I got it! There's now power to the compressor and the evap blower is working beautifully!

I did the modification pretty much as described in the pelican article. I wanted to use an on/off potentiometer instead of a separate switch; but the switch contacts on the ones I found didn't look substantial enough to handle the circuits 25 amp max. The lighted switch I used is rated for 20amps, so I'll keep an eye on it.

Appreciate your posting!
