HRE 17" Fuchs, are they safe?
I am debating between lindsey's custom 17" 3-piece fuchs and the HRE 17" 3-piece fuch but I remember some discussion about fuch knockoffs that would fail on the track. Does anyone have any info on these?

I've heard that the aftermarket Fuchs will not pass a tech inspection. They're not allowed on the track. I suppose it depends on who techs your car.

Neither of those are fakes, both use authentic Fuchs centers. (Least for sure the Lindseys do)
People on this board get on the track with Lindsey's on. Don't the Lindsey's cost less as well? rjp |
The three piece designs are not considered replica Fuchs. The wheels that were banned from the track events were the cast Fuch replicas.

Roamer,
I have available some of the wheels you are interested in. Brand new custom made with original fuchs centers and BBS rim halfs. Available w or w/o tires. e-mail me if intereswted: www.piedogger@aol.com |
I have the HRE Fuchs wheels (9x17s in the rear, 8x16s in the front) and they are perfectly fine for track use. I don't think the HREs use real Fuchs centers (I don't remember seeing the little Fox symbol on them, but I may be wrong).
Anyway, the HREs are great wheels and were a relative bargain when I bought them years ago. Mike |
Thanks guys.
I have not gotten a price on the HRE's yet but I would be willing to bet the Lindsey's are less. My concern is that, at least with the Lindseys, you are using ~20+ year old centers. Does anyone know how HRE get their centers? Also, my recollection, prior to this post, was that it might have been a cast knockoff that was the problem. |
Any one use the Compomotive 3-piece wheels? Fuch replica 3-piece? Is Compomotive the same as the 3-piece HRE?
